THE LIFE-SAVING WORK OF 4 LOCAL FIRST RESPONDERS IS THE REASON AN AIKEN COUNTY WOMAN AND HER UNBORN BABY ARE STILL BREATHING TODAY. MANDY POOLE TRACKED DOWN THE HEROES WHO REVIVED HER AND GAVE HER UNBORN SON A CHANCE AT LIFE. NEWSCHANNEL 6’S STEFANY BORNMAN WAS THERE WHEN THE EMERGENCY MEDICAL TEAM WAS HONORED. HER HEART STOPPED BEATING, AND HER LIFE RESTED IN THE HANDS OF THESE 4 FIRST RESPONDERS. STEFANY: STEPHEN POOLE CALLED 9-1-1 AND IMMEDIATELY STARTED PERFORMING C-P-R ON HIS WIFE. WHICH THE HUMBLE HEROES SAY IS THE REAL REASON THEY ARE STANDING HERE TODAY. STEPHEN POOLE/ HUSBAND OF MANDY “IT WAS REALLY A TEAM EFFORT. I UNDERSTAND WHAT I DID PROBABLY HELPED SAVED HER LIFE.” GREG JONES/ PARAMEDIC “WE GET ONE SCENE, HE’S DOING CPR. HE HAD ALREADY STARTED THE LIFESAVING PROCESS FOR US. WE JUST CONTINUED WHAT HE STARTED.” STEFANY: 34- WEEKS INTO HER PREGNANCY, POOLE IS HAPPY TO SHARE WITH HER HEROES THAT SHE’S NAMED HER SON OWEN, WHICH MEANS YOUNG WARRIOR. A VERY FITTING NAME FOR THIS BABY. STEPHEN POOLE/ HUSBAND OF MANDY “I THINK HE DESERVES, AT SOME POINT, TO MEET THEM BECAUSE THEY SAVED HIS MOM’S LIFE AND HIS LIFE AT THE SAME TIME.” IN AIKEN COUNTY, STEFANY BORNMAN, WJBF NEWSCHANNEL 6. JENNIE: THE AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION PRESENTED THE PARAMEDICS AND EMT’S WITH A “LIFE’S WHY” AWARD TODAY. POOLE IS DUE TO DELIVER HER BABY BOY IN JULY! BRAD: A PROCLAMATION WAS PASSED TODAY DECLARING THIS WEEK AIKEN COUNTY EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES WEEK. EVERY YEAR FROM NOW ON IT WILL BE OBSERVED FROM MAY 21ST THROUGH MAY 27TH. IT’S A CHANCE TO RECOGNIZE PARAMEDICS, E-M-T’S AND FIRST RESPONDERS FOR THEIR COUNTLESS HOURS OF SPECIALIZED TRAINING THAT SAVES LIVES.
