Then what you’re going to do is place the baby down on his or her back with the base of the blanket right at the bottom of the neck. Then what we’ll do is take the corner on the right side, wrap it around the baby and placing the extra fabric beneath the baby leaving the left arm free. Next you’ll want to take the portion of the blanket by the feet and fold it up into the top right corner again. The left arm being free when you do the bottom portion of the swaddle you want to make sure that the baby’s hips are flexed and that there is enough room for the baby to be able to move his or her feet freely. Finally you want to take the left side and bring it around taking the extra fabric around the baby. Once swaddled the baby can be put into his or her own sleep sleeping area usually a crib, or a pack and play, or a bassinet. You want to make sure that there’s a firm surface and that the sleeping area is free of any soft toys, pillows, free blankets, or crib bumpers. The baby should always be placed to sleep on their backs as shown and that’s how you swaddle a baby! [Music]
