Peek-a-Boo ICU at The Valley Hospital’s Center for Childbirth

We’ve actually set up a system that allows us to take a picture through a web cam and in real time transmit that image for about five minutes every day to someone who can’t get in to see them. We have called it Peek-a-Boo ICU and it gives our moms who are home or perhaps ill in the ICU after delivery or staying in the labor and delivery suite overnight an opportunity to view their baby by a video, a secure website. Neonatology & the NICU at The Valley Hospital’s Center for Childbirth

We’re a family-centered unit. The fact that a family can come in, they can be involved in their care, and visit almost 24 hours a day. They can stay with their child as long as they want. They can have sibling and grandparent visitation. This is something that allows us to stand out in a community. We have very experienced doctors, the nurses are experienced. How to Become a Midwife : Midwife’s Role During Childbirth

Hi! My name is Maureen Browne and on behalf of expertvillage.com. In this clip, we will be talking about the care by midwife in labor. During labor, the midwife will be less focused on the clock and she will allow labor to assume it’s spontaneous course. Examples of this would be fewer vaginal exams, not rupturing the water bag, and continues fetal heart rate monitoring only when medically indicated. She encourages the mother and her partner to be active participants in the laboring process, which might include changing positions in labor, using a water tub if available, and informed decision making on interventions that may become medically necessary.

You don’t feel like you are bothering them if you buzz them or they actually know what you need before you even ask It’s just very calming. They are here to soothe you and help you. They’re just so much one on one attention, because it’s such a boutique type environment, where it’s not overwhelming with activity. They…
